Discover How Lasers Have Changed Gum Surgery
Have you been told that you need gum surgery? Try LANAP®,
one of the most revolutionary methods of treating the effects of advanced gum disease.
How Gum Disease Begins to Affect Your Soft Tissues
Gum disease is a condition affecting an estimated millions of Americans each year. Gum disease starts when pockets begin to form between the gums and the teeth and bone they protect. Bacteria thrive within the pockets and start to eat away at both the soft and hard tissues. Eventually, you end up with gums that are partially diseased.
In order to restore your gum tissues to good health and halt the progression of periodontal disease, you may require gum surgery. At KR Perio, we use the LANAP® protocol, a laser-assisted protocol designed to help remove diseased and infected gum tissues without cutting or sutures. It is minimally invasive and works well on most gum disease patients.

Could You Have Gum Disease and Not Know It?
Gum disease is also known as a “silent” disease, because it often has few symptoms, especially in its initial stage, gingivitis. Sometimes, people with gum disease do have signs, but they ignore them until the gum disease has progressed. If you recognize any of these symptoms in yourself or a family member, please get a checkup immediately:
- Bleeding soft tissues when brushing or eating.
- Gums that are swollen and achy.
- Gums that are bright red.
- Teeth that have become loose.
- Gums that have begun to pull back from teeth.
- Gums that have begun to recede.
- Bad breath that does not go away, even with brushing, mouthwash, gum, or mints.
Even if your gum disease has advanced to a more serious stage, we can help! Call North Miami Beach Office Phone Number 305-652-2255 to get on our calendar. Never ignore periodontal disease. It has been linked to serious conditions such as stroke, diabetes, hypertension, and even cancer.
Lasers Have Made Gum Surgery Easier and More Efficient Than Ever Before!
What to Expect From the LANAP® Treatment
When you come to KR Perio for LANAP® treatment, you can expect to have a complete in-office experience. You will be numbed according to your needs, at which time Dr. Rodriguez will begin the procedure to help destroy any deteriorated gum tissue. Because the lasers in the LANAP® device have been specially programmed, they will not affect your healthy gum tissue. This enables the health tissues to regenerate and heal immediately after LANAP® treatment has concluded.
You may find that the treated area is tender for a few days after LANAP®. If this is the case, you can reduce any mild discomfort with over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medicines. Dr. Rodriguez will also give you suggestions for keeping the area clean to avoid future need for any gum surgery.
